Drum and IBC storage is becoming an increasing operational requirement due to legislation on the storage of fluids.

Any Industrial, commercial or institutional site storing 200 litres of oil or similar liquid above ground in one or more containers is subject to legislation. The basic requirements are as follows:

• tanks, drums, IBC’s and any other containers storing oil must be stood within a bund or a drip tray
• this must contain 110% of the largest container, or 25% of the total capacity stored, whichever is greater
• for single drums stored a drip tray with a capacity of 25% would normally be accepted
